Nine Parts of Desire
May 30th - June 14th
6th Street Playhouse, Santa Rosa

A portrait of the extraordinary (and ordinary) lives of a whole cross-section of Iraqi women: a sexy painter, a radical Communist, doctors, exiles, wives and lovers. Nine Iraqi women share the true stories of their lives before, during and after the regime of Saddam Hussein. This work delves into the many conflicting aspects of what it means to be a woman in the age-old war zone that is Iraq. An unusually timely meditation on the ancient, the modern, and the feminine in a country overshadowed by war.   A riveting, unsettling, politically charged play that will leave you filled with awe - and with the profound questions of how we help and harm our fellow man.
